ASHRAE Technical Committee 4.7: Handbook
|
Welcome to our Handbook page. TC 4.7 is currently responsible for Chapter 31 'Energy
Estimating and Modeling Methods' of the ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook.
Updating Chapter 31 References and Content
At the Honolulu meeting, it was decided that it might be appropriate to divide Chapter 31 in
several sections for the purpose of reviewing the content and assuring that the references in
the chapter are the most up-to-date information available. During the full TC meeting, people
volunteered or were volunteered to review these sections. The linked document gives an overview
of the sections in the chapter, the volunteers for each section, and a summary of the
recommendations received to date. Action is needed soon on this review since the deadline for
the 2005 Handbook is rapidly approaching. Any questions or comments about these documents can be
sent to the TC4.7 Handbook Chair (Rick Strand).
Chapter 31 New Validation Section
As a result of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 140 work, Ron Judkoff and Joel Neymark have put together
a new section for Chapter 31 dedicated to validation of simulation programs. This information
has not appeared in the chapter before now and will be a valuable addition to the chapter.
It has been proposed that the new section be added as an appendix to the chapter with an
appropriate reference inside the current chapter. This would preserve the flow of the current
chapter configuration and still provide important information about validation.

Chapter 31 Corrections
There are several potential corrections to the current version of
Chapter 31 that are pending. This includes changes to Equation 36,
Equation 42, Equation 49, and Table 5. Please review this document and
send any comments to Rick Strand (rkstrand@uiuc.edu).
Chapter 31 Additions
In addition to the new validation section, we have received proposals
for enhancements to the Boiler and Inverse Chiller model sections of our
chapter. Please review this document and send any comments, corrections,
or additional new material to Rick Strand (rkstrand@uiuc.edu).
The idea of this page is also to test ideas for a future electronic version of the handbook.
